On August 1, 2021, Bertrand Pauget will begin a five-year term as Dean of the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies at Université de Saint-Boniface.

When the recruitment process, which began in January, came to a close, the decision was made to appoint Bertrand Pauget as Dean of the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies (FEPS). Dr. Pauget has a solid track record, having worked as associate professor of management science at École supérieure de commerce de Troyes (2006-2009) and full professor at the European Business School – Paris (2009-2016). Since 2017, Dr. Pauget has worked as a lecturer-researcher at Karlstad University (Sweden) with a focus on leadership and organization. At the European Business School – Paris, Dr. Pauget also worked as Management and Strategy Research Coordinator before taking on the role of Dean of the Faculty of Management Science.

‟I am thrilled to join the team at Université de Saint-Boniface. Its mission as a Francophone post-secondary institution in a minority setting really resonates with me. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to continue to strengthen the FEPS’s professional programs, and actively contribute to the development of Manitoba’s Francophone community.”

Dr. Pauget holds a Master’s in Modern History from the Université de Toulouse II – Le Mirail, where he completed a thesis entitled L’histoire de la gestion des connaissances [the history of knowledge management]. During his doctoral studies at the University of Technology of Troyes, Bertrand Pauget successfully defended a thesis entitled La compétence relationnelle comme aide à la compréhension de la structuration d’une organisation [using relational competence to better understand organizational structure].

Dr. Pauget is quadrilingual (French, English, Swedish and German) and has signed his name to some thirty peer-reviewed publications. In recent years, he has conducted research in a variety of areas: using social networks to understand the differences between formal and informal structures within organizations, innovation in management and using future-focused analysis and planning in public organizations such as museums and hospitals.

‟An energetic and creative leader, Dr. Pauget leverages rapport, innovation and forward thinking in order to lead more effectively,” explains Peter Dorrington, Vice-President (Academic and Research). ‟With these strong qualities, I have every reason to believe that Dr. Pauget will make an excellent dean at Université de Saint-Boniface. Although he has not lived in a Francophone minority setting in Canada, he impressed the selection advisory committee with his sensitivity to the realities and aspirations of Canada’s Francophone communities, as well as his understanding of certain preferred approaches in the context of French education in a minority setting. I am really looking forward to working with him and I wish him all the best in his new role.”
