FIT
Are you a teacher looking for a summer immersion experience? Improve your French and your second language teaching skills during FIT (French Immersion for Teachers), a three-week intensive program designed especially for teachers of French as a second language. Whatever your level of proficiency, you can improve your language skills, explore Francophone culture and discover French teaching resources.
FIT will be held in person at the USB campus.
July 7 to 25, 2025
Classes run from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
Total course fees: $1004
Registration fees of $200 must be paid at the time of enrolment (includes cost of handbooks and other course materials). Tuition fees of $804 are due by July 4, 2025 if you are not eligible for the bursary.

The program includes approximately 80 hours of language training covering two levels of our Français oral program within an expanded curriculum tailored for teachers, as well as 16 hours of sociocultural activities and workshops with teaching ideas and resources.
- Language training uses the communicative/experiential method.
- Proficiency levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Perfectionnement
- Learn through exploration of themes such as Food, Travel, and Health.
- Canadian course materials present vocabulary, sentence structure and pronunciation, as well as communication strategies and Francophone culture.
Both programs are designed for teachers of French (English program) or French Immersion, and for teachers who would like to teach French as a second language. Education students graduating in 2025 are also welcome, and are eligible for the bursary for FIT, but not the bursary for Mini-FIT.
Education students who will be starting their final year in the Fall can enroll in FIT, but they are not eligible for the bursary. School staff who do not have a teaching permit, such as educational assistants or library technicians, may also be accepted in the FIT program, but are not eligible for the bursary.
Mini-FIT
Mini-FIT will be offered through remote learning with Zoom.
A shorter version of FIT, Mini-Fit runs over two extended weekends during the Spring so you can continue your language training during the school year. Mini-FIT is for teachers with proficiency levels of Beginner 3 and up. (Actual levels offered are determined based on enrolment.)
