Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Vaccination Policy

Will USB’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy remain in effect during the summer session?

In light of new public health measures, internal consultations, as well as the current situation observed at other establishments in Manitoba and in society in general, USB is suspending its Vaccination Policy.

The suspension of the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy will take effect on May 1, 2022.

In the event of a significant increase in the risk of transmission, the policy could be reinstated.

USB continues to strongly encourage complete vaccination against COVID-19, including the booster shot (third dose), to help ensure the health and safety of members of the university community and their loved ones or visitors on campus who may be vulnerable.

Public Health Measures

Will it be mandatory to wear a mask on the USB campus?

The health and safety of the student population and personnel remains our priority and we recognize that individuals have different levels of comfort.

It is still mandatory to wear a three-ply medical mask everywhere on the USB campus.

What type of mask do I have to wear when I am on campus?

It is mandatory to wear a disposable three-ply medical mask. This is a minimum requirement. If you prefer to wear your own KN95 mask, please feel free to do so.

Cloth masks and masks with valves are prohibited. It is also forbidden to use bandanas, scarves or neck warmers in place of a mask.

Are there exceptions to the mask requirement?

There are some exceptions for extracurricular activities in which participation is optional and in the student residence, where wearing a mask is still strongly recommended.

Some of these exceptions include:

  • Athletic activities (Les Rouges)
  • Sociocultural activities (Chiens de soleil theatre, Cutural Activities, etc.)
  • Use of Sportex facilities
  • Life in student residence
  • Community activities in the gymnasiums or Martial-Caron auditorium

USB reserves the right to reinstate the requirement to wear a mask in these settings.

Are masks provided by USB?

Yes. USB will offer three-ply medical masks. They are available at school entrances and other locations.

Which public health measures are in place on campus?

The following public health measures will remain in place:

  • three-ply medical masks provided on campus;
  • sanitizing products available for the personnel and student population to disinfect hands in common areas and disinfect surfaces in classrooms;
  • requirement to stay home in the event of a contagious illness;
  • recommendation to physically distance as much as possible.
