International Baccalaureate

The IB program aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically. The programme provides an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education and is recognized by many universities worldwide.

Many IB courses are eligible for transfer credit and entrance scholarships are available to IB students.

Transfer of Credit

Credit can be transferred for the subjects in the table below. As of early July, when USB is able to access your International Baccalaureate grades, we will notify you by email of the credits that are eligible for transfer. You may choose to accept or decline the offer to transfer credit. Please be sure to give us permission to access your transcript through the My IB portal, so that we may assess the IB courses that you have passed.

International Baccalaureate Scholarships

Canadian applicants and permanent residents currently studying in a Canadian postsecondary school may be eligible for the International Baccalaureate scholarships. To apply for a scholarship, you must simply submit an official IB transcript to the Registrar’s Office before September 1st. Be sure to give us permission to access your transcript through the My IB portal.

You may also be able to receive an USB Entrance Scholarship if you submit an application for admission before March 1st. In May, we will request that your school provide us your interim transcript. Eligibility for this scholarship is based on your results. In the event that you are also eligible for an IB Academic Excellence Scholarship (Tier 1 or Tier II), USB will award you the greater scholarship, as you are not allowed to receive both an Entrance Scholarship and an IB Academic Excellence Scholarship (Tier I or Tier II). However, it is possible to be awarded both an Entrance Scholarship and an IB-Certificate Academic Excellence Scholarship.

For more information on entrance scholarships, consult our Entrance Scholarship page (available in French only).
