Spiritual Life

Spirituality is an important part of a person’s health and well-being. Spirituality is not necessarily synonymous with religion, although being part of an organized spiritual group or a faith community is a common way to explore one’s spirituality.

Students may address their spiritual needs through solitary pursuits, such as meditation or prayer, in a place of contemplation (The Chapel), or through community activities, such as sports, exercise, music or drama.

USB currently offers chaplaincy services through the Student Services Department.

The Chapel (Room 2325)

A space for prayer and quiet reflection, open to all beliefs and confessions within the university community.

The Chapel is open 7 a.m.–10 p.m., Monday–Friday.

Chaplaincy Services

This service seeks to encourage personal growth, specifically through the lens of the Christian faith. In the context of a culturally diverse campus, and in collaboration with community partners, the chaplaincy activities are comprised of the following initiatives:

  • offer opportunities and a space for prayer and quiet reflection (The Chapel);
  • raise awareness about community involvement and social justice;
  • support humanitarian activities, and welcome and settlement programs on campus;
  • lead discussion groups for sharing perspectives on life, beliefs and culture; and
  • promote well-being, spiritual growth, a feeling of belonging, as well as sharing and mutual respect.
