Designed for beginner, intermediate or advanced learners, this program helps participants enhance their French skills for a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and more. Focused on the practical needs of healthcare workers and administrators, this training contributes to improving the active offer of services in French.
Note: These are not courses in medical or specialized terminology.
Levels and topics
Our practical and engaging program promotes learning French based on real-life situations encountered daily in healthcare settings. It focuses on the active offer of services in French, i.e., how to welcome, inform and treat the public in French on first contact.

The conversation circle provides an opportunity to discuss various topics with peers at the same language level, guided by an experienced instructor, in a relaxed atmosphere.
Designed for intermediate learners, the conversation circle is offered once a week in the evening for a total of 20 hours (2 hours/week for 10 weeks). Learners can register after having taken a course at the corresponding level in the past 12 months.

Instructors
Our instructors are trained and experienced professionals who are knowledgeable in health-related vocabulary and topics. They prioritize the practical needs of learners and their ability to provide an active offer of services in French. The primary focus is on speaking practice.
A placement test is required if the learner’s level is not known at the time of registration. Simply select “unknown level” on the registration form, if applicable. The placement test is not necessary if learners have no knowledge of the language they wish to learn. They can just choose FMS-0101 Beginner 1 when they register.
Level equivalencies
All course levels are scheduled to be offered each term. However, in the event of insufficient enrolment, registered participants will be transferred to the Conversational French program so they can continue their learning. The Conversational French learning objectives are comparable to those of the French for Health Professionals program but cover different topics.

Course confirmation
Registration as well as course and conversation circle details will be confirmed by email or phone on the Thursday before the first class.
Refunds
A partial refund (minus the cost of your handbook and a $43 administration fee) can be requested before the second class. A full refund will be issued if the course is cancelled or the schedule is changed by the Continuing Education Division.
