Information Technology
The purpose of this program is to train students in designing, installing and maintaining information systems. Students who successfully complete the program will have the technical knowledge to implement and fix hardware components, connect and maintain business applications, store and maintain databases adn implement interfaces between vairous information systems. The program also includes related business courses.
Students will get the chance to learn these skills within a modern laboratory setting. Practical approaches ensure that students learn by experience. An excellent student-professor ratio enables constant communication between professors and students. This ratio maximizes learning and makes for a healthy learning environment.
The program uses the latest technology. Course titles represent the type of knowledge learned and not the product used. The program may then stay up to date as far as the technology used within the courses without having to rename courses every year. It provides for maximum flexibility to all involved.
The program looks to provide a healthy balance between the various flavours of products on the marketplace. Products from Microsoft, Accpac, Adobe, Macromedi, Cisco, Novell and Open Sou community among others are used in the program. Students will get a feel for the various options available within the workplace. Constant communication between the program and the community ensures that the courses reflect the use of technology within the local marketplace.
In their second year, students participate in a five-week workplace practicum. Co-operative work experience placements are also available to qualifying students.
The practicum program of USB's École technique et professionnelle offers workplace experience for Business Administration, Information Technology and Tourism Management.
