2011-2012 Annual Report: A Look Back at an Eventful Year Marked By USB'S New Visual Identity
Winnipeg, January 10, 2013 - With the release of its annual report online at ustboniface.ca/rapportannuel, Université de Saint Boniface (USB) has officially declared the end of the 2011-12 academic year, one marked by the renewal of its visual identity in perfect harmony with its now official university status.
“Throughout the 2011-12 year, our students and staff adapted to a new reality, that of belonging to an institution finally named Université,” explained President Raymonde Gagné. “This fuelled a special sense of pride on campus, and we have seen a series of accomplishments in all areas.”
One of the most remarkable achievements is the complete remodelling of USB’s visual identity, a process that lasted throughout the year and included a survey of 200 people. In the spring of 2012, USB chose an eloquent logo made up of six interwoven lines and a half-cupola inserted in an elegant shield shape. The slogan “Une education supérieure depuis 1818” (Higher education since 1818) was chosen. “The annual report itself, with its colourful and modern design, uses USB’s new graphic style and wonderfully reflects the new visual identity,” stated the President with satisfaction.
Enjoying a reinforced sense of identity
USB’s new image provided inspiration for other great accomplishments in 2011-12, including the celebration of the Continuing Education Division’s 35th anniversary, which was an opportunity to highlight the growing success of this language school. The year also saw the drafting of a new five-year strategic plan with four directions; the start of new partnerships which included signing an agreement with a Haitian institution; the growing reputation of USB researchers as illustrated by a major scientific discovery by a team led by microbiology professor Mathias Oulé; and the adoption of new recruitment strategies for Manitoba high school graduates.
“The 2011-12 year has given us renewed momentum,” concluded Board of Governors Chair Léo Robert. “It seems our students, our staff, but also the entire community have already benefited from the effects of our new visual identity.”
