The Scholarship fund’s goal is to award a bursary to a student currently in USB's Nursing program who demonstrates the very qualities that made Yvonne such an honourable and admired nurse.

Warm, Generous and Compassionate
Early on in life, Yvonne forged a path dedicated to improving the lives around her. A graduate of the Regina Grey Nuns’ Hospital School of Nursing in 1963, she practiced all areas of nursing in small rural hospitals in Fort Qu’Appelle and Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, as well as Bemidji, Minnesota. In 1971, Yvonne and her family finally settled in Ste. Anne, Manitoba where she was the first nurse to work in the Seine Medical Centre. She would become a permanent fixture there for the next 25 years.
Yvonne continued her commitment to people with the Ste. Anne Home Care program and the Villa Youville Inc. personal care home until her retirement in 2016. She cared for the residents of Southeastern Manitoba for a total of 45 years.
Yvonne’s dedication, respect and professionalism towards patients and colleagues left her admired by all. Warm, generous and compassionate represent just a few of the many great qualities that she possessed.
Her compassion and kindness brought great comfort to countless patients and their families. Her love for caring for people kept her working until age 76. Unfortunately, in the fall of 2017, Yvonne passed away suddenly. The outpouring of support and love from all that she touched prompted the idea of a scholarship fund that would honour her legacy as a nurse and caregiver.
