Learn French and Cree at USB

Language Connections. Discover French and Cree.

USB’s Continuing Education Division (CED) is offering a workshop for learning basic French and Cree, thanks to a collaboration with Indigenous Languages of Manitoba.

In a relaxed atmosphere, English-speaking learners will have the chance to develop practical abilities in both these languages. Behind this initiative is a desire to respect and share elements of both cultures.

“Anyone looking to acquire basic skills in French or Cree is invited to take part in this workshop, explains Erika Morin-Nett, coordinator at the CED. This type of knowledge could be very useful, especially during speeches to properly recognize that we find ourselves on Treaty 1 territory and that these lands are part of a the traditional territory of the Anishinabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation, or even just to know the social conventions and decorum.”

Three workshops will take place on April 19th and 26th, and May 3rd. Registration deadline is April 16th.
