Francophone Conference on Learning Through Simulation Held at Université de Saint-Boniface
The theme Where Innovation and Excellence Meet will be the foundation for the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS)’s sixth annual Francophone Conference on Learning Through Simulation, to be held at the Université de Saint-Boniface, from May 30 to June 1, 2017.
This annual conference brings together almost 60 people from across the country (instructors, managers, technicians and researchers) and from CNFS member institutions, healthcare agencies and Quebec Cégeps. This unique gathering not only helps to meet the French-language education needs of healthcare professionals in Canada’s Francophone communities, but also enables participants to share their most innovative initiatives and showcases the excellence of Canada’s Francophone stakeholders in this field.
Through an experiential approach, participants will be able to learn about innovations and best practices in techniques, management and the pedagogy of simulation-based learning; explore the challenges of developing and offering simulation programs; take advantage of the knowledge, resources and expertise of the simulation community of practice; and help to advance simulation knowledge.
Over the last few years, educational institutions have established simulation centres and learned a great deal about running these learning centres. Francophone specialists in various elements of simulation are researching and developing increasingly sophisticated techniques to make simulation scenarios as realistic as possible, in order to properly train many types of healthcare professionals.
“We are very proud of the expertise that the specialist teams at our institutions, including the Université de Saint-Boniface, have acquired in this area,” says Gabor Csepregi, CNFS Co-Chair and President of the Université de Saint-Boniface. “They are thus contributing significantly to the advancement of a variety of elements of simulation-based learning in French in Canada."
Like all CNFS initiatives, this conference is made possible thanks to the financial support of Health Canada under the Roadmap for Canada’s Official Languages 2013-2018: Education, Immigration, Communities. For more information on conference activities, please see the program (available in French only).
