Wonderful news underscores the success of the “Regards croisés sur le handicap en contexte francophone” [Diverse Perspectives on Disability in a Francophone Context] colloquium, held June 12 to 15 at Université de Saint-Boniface (USB).

All of Manon Vichy’s paintings will be donated to the USB by University of Clermont Auvergne (UCA), which co-organized the international and interdisciplinary event during which the opening for these works of art took place.

“It’s great news,” said a delighted Maria Fernanda Arentsen. “These paintings are magnificent. I think that the fact that they were made by an artist with Down syndrome adds to their significance. It is a reminder that each of us has different talents and offers our own special gifts.”

These are not original paintings, but rather extremely high-quality reproductions. This gift has an estimated value of nearly 2,000 euros, or approximately $3,080.

Beginning in September, meetings will be held to determine a permanent location at USB for these works of art. Some of the paintings will be donated to partners.

“This wonderful friendship between UCA and USB offers many opportunities to our students,” pointed out Maria Fernanda Arentsen. “The constant presence of these paintings here is a reminder that the collaborative spirit between the two institutions can go a long way.”
