Centre d’études franco-canadiennes de l’Ouest (CEFCO)

 CEFCO

Founded in 1978, with its head office at Université de Saint-Boniface, the Centre d’études franco-canadiennes de l’Ouest (CEFCO) has a dual mandate: to promote the production of scientific research and literary creation, in French, relative to Western Canada; and, to facilitate the dissemination in French of knowledge surrounding Western Canada.

CEFCO is managed by a Board of Directors whose members include representatives from Université de Saint-Boniface, the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg.

To fulfill this dual mandate, CEFCO publishes in French:

  • A peer-reviewed journal entitled the Cahiers franco-canadiens de l’Ouest, twice yearly, containing scholarly articles, original essays, reviews, bibliographies and literary   creations, in all fields concerning Western Canada;
  • Books relating to various aspects of Western Canada’s francophonie (for example, literature and history).

CEFCO also regularly hosts in Western Canada scientific symposiums on themes relating to its mandate.

All CEFCO publications are listed on the Presses universitaires de Saint-Boniface (PUSB) website. It is also possible to order these publications from this website.
